Cranes work at Laem Chabang port in Chon Buri, one of three provinces in the EEC development project. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has vowed to bring forward the government's flagship Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project, aiming for real investment in the area by next year. Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana said the government has set aside a 6-billion-baht budget for fiscal 2017 to develop priority projects. In addition, the Industry Ministry has approved up to 1,200 licences for private firms to allow construction of new factories in the EEC's special economic zones. The BoI and the Industry Ministry will highlight the EEC project's benefits and privileges for investors, Mr Somchai said.
